There’s a valley, just out from Havelock North, in the North Island’s Hawke’s Bay named Tuki Tuki….Here you travel along Waimarama Road, underneath majestic Te Mata Peak and past a beautiful winery, and cross the Tukituki River by a red bridge. You’ll find breathtaking countryside and vistas. And a visit along the way - at an impressive shipping container coffee stop, that references that red bridge - shouldn’t be missed.

Thames - stop in and strike gold, on the road in an old gold rush town

On the road, and you’ve hit the entranceway to the western side of the Coromandel Peninsula. It’s a seaside town that wears its colonial gold rush past on its sleeve. Gold was discovered in the 1860s and Thames was settled in a flash. Surrounded in spectacular noble bush, the timber industry quickly followed.

Tongariro - for a mountain hike, chateau and high tea
